PTO Meeting notes August 8, 2019, 9:15am:
Aaron Pettinato: Welcome to the first meeting of the 2019/2010 school year, and 15th anniversary of HSTE.
AP: Mentioned note he received from Dr. Debbie Burdick congratulating HSTE on being #1 in the district in 3rd-6th math through ELA. Dr. Burdick stopped in for a brief intro and comment.
Began introductions of PTO executive board. Julie C. (President), MaryAnne (Vice President), Tempe (Treasurer), Kendra (Teacher Liaison), Catherine (Treasurer), Bill (Secretary) all present, not present Gwen.
Julie Cailliet introduced Stephanie Stasik (who is “quite charming”) to discuss new mini museum coordinator, Marcy Fusco. Explains structure of mini museum.
Spirit night: Rubio’s / Cherry on Top, 8/16 Friday from 3:30 to 8:30 @ Summit.
Spirit shirt news. New shirts are softer and higher quality, but limited on sizes, esp for “popular” sizes. Another order will be submitted for more shirts, so people needing to place orders must do so by 8/23.
Book Fair will be from 8/26-8/30. New vendor, Phoenix Book Company, starting this year. Will have fewer toys and knick-knacks and more books, including AR books.
Curriculum nights to be held on 8/27 (K-3rd) and 8/29 (4th-6th) from 5-6pm both nights.
Introduction of newly redesigned and now secure PTO web site. Can order shirts, do direct donations and see fundraising events on the calendar. Coming soon: Birthday messages for marquee. Going to web site and clicking “all events” in the right column will give full list of fund raising and other events currently on the calendar.
Question from parent: “Will we be able to sign up for volunteering at the site?”
Answer: Yes, in “Volunteering” section. Sign up using Signup Genius.
Tempe provided Treasury report:
Budget was approved at the end of the last school year by the PTO. Budget updates will be provided before every PTO meeting and posted online. Provided treasury report shows:
Budget doc details:
- 1st page: All fund raisers that support all activities and costs of the PTO
- 2nd page: All costs, activities, supplies and spends.
Tempe requested questions about the budget be emailed (which can be done from the web site.)
Coming events / fundraisers:
Square Art will start in the Fall and timed to be able to have gifts for the holiday season.
Mother / Son night will have a magic show, games and a dance zone.
Turkey Trot – replaces APEX Fun Run and is the biggest fund raiser of the year. Similar event as APEX, but managed internally means 100% of funds (less expenses) will go to PTO.
